The Comcast Internet Essentials program is aimed at bridging the digital divide-particularly as it exists due to economic conditions. Specifically, for families that live in their footprint with students eligible for the free lunch program, they are providing the following:
   

  • $9.95/month + tax for Economy Internet Essentials Service
  • No additional fees: no modem rental charges, no installation/activation fees as long as the student is in school and eligible for free lunch
  • Option to purchase a reduced priced computer ($149.99 + taxes)

Access to online, in print and classroom digital literacy training (Comcast is developing an online module with Microsoft to teach folks computer and internet basics. We will also be partnering nationally with local Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCAs, Urban League and other community institutions to provide classroom style instruction for the entire family.)

 Eligibility Criteria

 1. Has at least one child receiving free school lunches through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP),
 2. Serviceable by Comcast,
 3. Has not had active Comcast HSD service in the past 90 days, AND
 4. Does not have a back balance with Comcast
